Baile Funk Carioca – Sun Bailante Mixtape

By 30 July, 2010

Friday is here again, and this seems always to be the time we think of mixtapes. This week we have a great mix of Baile Funk, put together by our good friends in London, Sun Bailante.

Sun Bailante put on regular nights of tropical beats and sounds from Latin America, the Caribbean and Africa. Salsa, Reggaeton, Merengue, Dancehall, Soca, Baile Funk, Samba, Latin House, Zouk, Cumbia, Rock en español, Soukous, Kizomba and Kuduro are some of the music you will discover in their funky parties that take you around the world. Colombia, Brazil, Cuba, Jamaica, Trinidad & Tobago, Congo, Angola and the French Islands are just some of the destinations they cover.

Jerome is the main DJ and instigator of Sun Bailante. He has been involved with Brazilian music for a while. He became massively interested in Baile Funk in 2005 when a friend coming back from Brazil gave him two CDs he had bought from the streets of Rio. He would fall in love with this music, with its Miami Bass-aping appeal.

Tonight on Friday 30th July they will be celebrating Michael Jackson in a very special tropical night. We have more details of the night here.
