Chico Dub Releases ‘Hy Brazil Vol 10’, His Latest Selection of New Electronic Music from Brazil
09 May, 2016Chico Dub’s series of Hy Brazil compilations have become something of a staple at Sounds and Colours HQ, each free-to-download release revealing many of the most cutting-edge sounds coming out of Brazil. He’s now up to volume 10 and the latest instalment is as revelatory as anything that’s come before.
If anything this could be the most experimental set to date, with a list of artists that I have to admit ignorance towards, names like Rico, Bmind, Davis, kurup and Ubunto being completely new to me. The style on offer is a mixture of downtempo IDM, sample-based rhythms and beats and avant-garde electronica. This is most certainly the sound of Brazil on the edge, pushing boundaries as it only knows how.
