Metá-Metá Mixtape

By 21 November, 2014

Brazil’s Metá-Metá bring together influences as diverse as afro-samba, punk, free-form jazz, candomblé and afrobeat to create visceral, experimental and soulful music that reaches from a whisper to an all-out aural assault.

On their latest album, MetaL MetaL, the group’s core trio of vocalist Juçara Marçal, saxophonist Thiago França and guitarist Kiko Dinucci added bass and drums to the mix, cranking up the volume and gaining a critical smash in the process.

This mixtape highlights some of the group’s main influences with each member of the trio choosing 5 songs each. Their selections offer a glimpse into why we love this band so much!

The group will be touring Europe from 28th Nov until 9th Dec, with dates in London, Paris and Brussels to name just three lucky destinations. Full details of the European tour are at maisumdiscos.com/artists/metameta.
