PREMIÈRE: First Single from Curitiba’s Yokohama Café ‘O Espaço’

By 28 June, 2016

We are very happy to bring to you the start of a special project begun by Allan Yokohama, a musician who has been a part of Curitiba’s independent music scene for many years, performing with bands and artists like Poléxia, Terminal Guadalupe, Narciso Nada, Humanish and Rapha Moraes.

For his latest project Yokohama decided that he wanted to work with different artists, instruments and styles, speaking to a long list of musicians who would come in to collaborate with him on separate songs, with each track aiming for its own distinctive sound, amassing a collection of 12 tracks in total that will be released on a monthly basis beginning with “O Espaço”.

Taking a snippet from Claude Debussy’s “Clair de Lune” in the violin line, “O Espaço” is a gypsy punk number concerned with madness and insanity, especially in relation to wanting to be liberated from one’s own body. The track features lyrics by Oneide Diedrich, Rapha Moraes on bass, Marco Paulo Borgonhoni on violin, Gustavo Schirmer on guitar with Allan Yokohama on everything else, except for the backing vocals which are provided by many members of this group.
