New Mix: Nickodemus Presents ‘Turntables On The Caribbean (Compilation Mixtape)’

By 26 May, 2016

One of our favorite globetrotting DJs, Nickodemus is fresh off a gig at the first ever Manana Cuba festival and Musicabana Festival, so the timing couldn’t be more perfect for him to release a mix of hand-selected sounds from the entire Caribbean.

“Turntables on the Caribbean” is 35-minutes of tropical goodness touching on the culturally rich shores of Cuba, Puerto Rico, Haiti, Jamaica, Belize, Mexico, Colombia and the United States and beyond with Island inspired vibes from the likes of Ocote Soul Sounds, Zeb, Corrado Bucci, Captain Planet, Hector Lavoe, Poirier, Sunlightsquare, and much more.

The resident DJ of the long-running Turntables On The Hudson monthly party, Nickodemus tells us it was easy to find inspiration for the mix, as he has been doing “Turntables on the Caribbean” parties in Puerto Rico & Mexico (Tulum) for about 10-plus years.

“I went to Cuba for the first time in December 2015 and was able to put the finishing touches on this compilation when I got home (the photos, artwork and a song from Cuba’s DJ Jigüe y la Tumba Francesa),” he says.

Purchase the compilation via Nickodemus’ New York based label, Wonderwheel Recordings, here, and stream the mix below.
