Black Sugar “Checan”
23 October, 2014Peru Bravo is the excellent new compilation from Tiger’s Milk Records, bringing together 15 tracks of soul, funk and rock ‘n’ roll from Peruvian’s golden era, of the late 60s and 70s.
Black Sugar were one of the big names around this time, a hard-edged Peruvian funk and soul band – of which there were not many – who produced a couple of solid albums that are well worth checking out.
Here’s a recent live clip of Black Sugar performing “Checan”, one of the tracks featured on Peru Bravo: Funk, Soul & Psych form Peru’s Radical Decade.
