Elite Squad 2 chosen to represent Brazil at the Oscars

The votes are in. Elite Squad 2 aka Elite Squad: The Enemy Within aka Tropa de Elite 2 has been chosen as Brazil’s candidate for the Oscars in 2012. The film was chosen today by the Minister of Culture for its “artistic and technical quality.”

The Audiovisual secretary, Ana Paula Santana, went on to say that “Tropa 2 jumped ahead of the other choices” and was a unanimous choice. The other films in contention were:

Bruna Surfistinha (Marcus Baldini)

Estamos Juntos (Toni Venturi)

Federal (Erik de Castro)

VIPs (Toniko Melo)

Histórias Reais de um Mentiroso VIPS (Mariana Caltabiano)

Lope (Andrucha Waddington)

Malu de Bicicleta (Flávio Ramos Tambellini)

Mulatas! Um Tufão nos Quadris (Walmor Pamplona)

Quebrando o Tabu (Fernando Grostein Andrade)

Trabalhar Cansa (Juliana Rojas e Marco Dutra)
