Los Pirañas Release Toma Tu Jabón Kapax On Vinyl In Europe

By 09 November, 2012

This is the great news that one of our favourite albums from 2011 has now been released outside of Colombia. The always great Vampisoul have this month issued Toma Tu Jabón Kapax, the debut album from Colombian tropical noise merchants Los Pirañas on vinyl. If you were to just buy one record this year this should be it!

It only seems like a few weeks ago when Sounds and Colours first heard Toma Tu Jabón Kapax and went completely crazy over the album, the energy from the music causing a superlative-fuelled review to be written out within hours of hearing it (and that can be read here) and we couldn’t be more happy that it is now available to buy on vinyl in Europe.

Los Pirañas are Eblis Alvarez (guitar), Mario Galeano (bass) and Pedro Ojeda (drums), three Colombians who are also members of Frente Cumbiero, Meridian Brothers, Ondatropica and Romperayo. In our review of Toma Tu Jabón Kapax we described it thus:

Toma Tu Jabón Kapax is not an album that you can put on, sit back in your chair and enjoy. It feels like an incitement at times, willing the body and mind to let go. It’s punk, it’s rock ‘n’ roll, and somehow it’s Colombian. It’s almost too much to put into words, the sounds are so far out that it may even be years before I really understand what I am listening to. My mind has well and truly been blown!

It was no real surprise that the album was listed in our Best Albums of 2011 or that we asked Los Pirañas to be included on our recent Colombia compilation. They truly are one of the most interesting groups coming out of Colombia and one that you should really check out.

You can buy Toma Tu Jabón Kapax from Vampisoul. You won’t regret it!
