‘Luzmila Carpio Meets ZZK’ Released

By 04 March, 2015

This past week ZZK Records most definitely dropped one of their most interesting releases yet, an EP paying homage to the great Bolivian folk singer Luzmila Carpio. For the release ZZK asked El Remolón, Captain Planet, Chancha Vía Circuito, Tremor, Nicola Cruz, El Búho and King Coya to remix tracks recorded by Carpio in the 90s to showcase music from the Potosí region of Bolivia.

If you want to know why Luzmila Carpio is important here’s a quote from no other than Mercedes Sosa:

“…And all of a sudden, as the sun set on a Sunday, I felt the song of a bird, an extraordinary beautiful song. You can believe me or not. And it said to me: Look, listen to Luzmila singing to the mothers, her songs of Bolivia… We’re all irreplaceable, we’re unique, even though we are alone; the song protects us, it comes from wherever it comes and it rests in the soul, like this time with Luzmila…”
