New Compilation Of “Música Experimental Bailable” from Colombia

By 26 March, 2013

We realise that we keep banging on about new Colombian music but there is really something special happening in the country’s music scene at the moment. This is reflected in a new compilation, ¡Goza Con El Láser!, compiled by Colombian journalist Chucky Garcia and featuring six of Bogotá’s finest groups.

The text which accompanies the compilation speaks of the artists representing a new genre of música experimental bailable (experimental music to dance to), though post-tropical also seems like a good description. The artists featured; Meridian Brothers, Los Pirañas, La MiniTK del Miedo, Andrés Gualdrón y Los Animales Blancos, Mugre and Mitú, all clearly love Colombia’s tropical music and have some influence of that music in their own work though also incorporate many other genres (salsa, rock, electronic, pop) as well as a commitment to create something original. This is evident across all of the band’s featured.
