Pachamama comes to London’s Rich Mix on Sunday 28th February

By 24 February, 2016

The concepts of Mother Earth and Buen Vivir come to London this Sunday 28th February, with a day of Pachamama celebrations at the Rich Mix cultural centre in Shoreditch.

Billed as ‘a rare opportunity to enjoy an evening of indigenous music and culture from the mountains and valleys of Bolivia’, the evening will centre on a ceremony of Aymara prayer and ‘symbolic communal thanksgiving’.

Music comes from Sikuris sin Fronteras and DJ Ruben Cordero, while performance groups Morenada Dance, Tobas Dance and Pujllay Dance will also be in attendance. There will also be a series of short films and animations on themes connected to the event.

With London’s South American population having grown substantially in recent years, events such as this represent an important channel for maintaining traditions and for welcoming others to learn more about indigenous culture.
