Portavoz Readies New Album Sharing The Hip-Hop Oddity ‘Desde’ With DJ Cidtronyck

By 11 August, 2016

After the successful solo album Escribo Rap Con R De Revolución cemented the reputation of his Salvaje Decibel crew, Portavoz has been one of the stand out names in Chile’s ever growing underground rap movement, with performances at the Chilean version of Lollapalooza festival and on national television.

Unlike many hip-hop scenes, Chilean rap is closely-linked to the lower and middle class population, so everything that is built in this medium is extremely raw and based on hard graft. Collaboration has been key in upgrading the sound and visual quality of the artist’s works, so what you see and hear in this new single promotional video is a state of the art audiovisual statement with honest and direct lyrics over a mellow beat.

Originally known for his strong political themes, Portavoz lays back and writes about the reasons why he started to rap, which were not only sustained by activism. Self esteem, love for the music and family bonds are all motifs that appear in this first song, searching for new inspiration and anticipating the sound of his next album.
