A Samba/Semba Stew from Canada’s Souljazz Orchestra (Free MP3)

By 28 August, 2012

Souljazz Orchestra, one of Canada’s hardest working groups, will be releasing Solidarity on Strut Records on September 18th. “Cartão Postal” (translating as ‘Postcard’) is one of the highlights of the album; a Portuguese-language gem mixing samba and semba.

Solidarity will feature an array of artist from Canada’s underground jazz scene. Special guests include Senegal’s El Hadji “Élage” M’baye, Rômmel Teixeira Ribeiro from São Luís in North-Eastern Brazil, and Canada’s own Slim Moore, to name but a few.

The Souljazz Orchestra are playing London’s Jazz Cafe on November 4th. More details are here.

Listen and download “Cartão Postal” below, and also check out their video for “Ya Basta.”
