damoNaimad’s “Ritmos de Porro”

By 22 September, 2012

Argentina’s damoNaimad explore the rhythms of cumbia on a new EP which directly takes influences from both the Argentine and Colombia manifestations of cumbia.

The EP contains two versions of “Ritmo de Porro”, a remix of Totó La Momposina’s “El Porro Magangueleño” and final track “El Alargue +trackbonus”. All of the compositions blend digital and organic influences, offering a forward-thinking approach to digital cumbia that is not obsessed with getting people dancing. This is intelligent cumbia, maybe it should even be christened ICM (intelligent cumbia music).
