El Freaky “La Pongo (Put it Down)”

By 26 June, 2012

“La Pongo (Put it Down)” is the first track from El Freaky, an audiovisual collective from Bogotá, Colombia. In recent years the collective have created a name for themselves as the home of “tropical bass” in Bogotá. They have shared the stage with names such as Calle 13, Diplo, Celso Piña, Quantic, Mr Pauer and the ZZK Crew.

Essentially a four-man team of DJs, VJs and visual artists, the collective has played an important part in linking Bogotá’s dance and electronic music scene with other countries, with their line-ups often featuring a mix of international and Colombian acts. You can read more about the collective at the excellent Rhythm n Roots blog: rhythmnroots.wordpress.com/2012/02/20/freaky-fridays-colombias-el-freaky-colectivo

This track features North Africa’s Empire Isis, Ras Jahonnan on vocals and Benny B on production, and was mastered by Frank El Medico (Mala Rodriguez, Calle 13). Hopefully it’s the first of many!
