New Hip-Hop from Argentina’s Soloman

By 03 May, 2012

The first EP from Argentine MC Solomán is described as “Alternative explorations of new urban Caribbean styles, tracks inspired by the children’s character Solomán from the books of Ramón García Domínguez” (“Exploraciones alternativas del nuevo caribe urbano a modo de señales, pistas, referencias inspirado en el personaje infantil Solomán de Ramón García Domínguez.“) On the first two tracks of Esta Capa No Sirve Para Volar EP it’s hard to look past the urban part of that statement with a sound almost completely enveloped in the streets of Buenos Aires, so it’s left to the final two tracks to illicit those Caribbean styles with traces of salsa and dub entering the mix. Whichever way you look at it this is an interesting new voice in the Buenos Aires hip-hop scene, with this EP indicating he could be an MC capable of something very interesting in the future.
