Arca Covers Shakira!
22 January, 2015Well, we missed this one when it first got released at the end of last year, but it’s definitely still worth flagging up. This is a completely barmy cover of Shakira’s “Hips Don’t Lie” by Venezuelan producer Arca.
Following on from working with Kanye West (on Yeezus) and FKA twigs (on her first two EPs) Arca released his first full-length album, Xen on Mute records last year. Clearly one not to rest on his laurels or show any signs of complacency, this new take on Shakira – which pretty much deconstructs the original into a ball of squeals and beats – leaves more questions than answers, and that’s the way we like it.
