This is the latest publication from the Swiss photographer Mirjam Wirz and features images from her extensive research in Mexico, looking at their cumbia sonidera culture. If you love sound systems then this is the book for you. This volume looks at the architecture of Mexican cumbia sound systems, known as Sonidos, and displays their versatile configurations.

Los Shapis – The Valley Mashes

12" vinyl featuring reworkings of two tracks by Peruvian group, Los Shapis. They are a group who put Andean melodies (i.e. huayno) at the centre of the Peruvian cumbia sound, leading it towards the sound we now know as chicha. On this release, the first from Berlin-based label Eck Echo, Tribilín Sound & Rolo Gallardo (of Bareto) and Los Wawis both rework classic tracks by the group, given that cumbia sound extra disco and dub goodness.
