London Remixed Festival Returns With A Bumper Four-Stage Event (5-6 Feb)

By 26 January, 2016

Next weekend, the London Remixed Festival will once again grace East London’s Rich Mix for a two-day showcase of some of the most vibrant up-and-coming acts in world music. Over twenty different artists will take to the stage from 5 to 6 February, including a whole host of Latin-tinged groups.

The festival will kick off on Friday 5 on the Vintage Remix stage with a headline set from the 20-piece orchestral outfit Symphonica, who will be joined on the night by DMC World DJ Champion Mr Switch.

A day later, the Tropicarnival stage will play host to Baldo Verdú y su Tonto Malembe, a London-based quintet whose songs fuse traditional Venezuelan sounds with a big serving of rock, funk and tropicália. Joining them on the day will be K.O.G and the Zongo Brigade, who will be showcasing their soulful reggae and afrobeat-inflected tunes.

London label Movimientos’s very own DJ Cal Jader will also take to the decks on the 6th, offering up an eclectic mix of Latin beats and tropical bass tracks for the Shoreditch crowd. Rounding off the evening on the Tropicarnival stage will be a DJ set from Nubiyan Twist and their soulful blend of afrobeat, dub and jazz-infused tunes.

On the Polka Club stage, London’s Gypsy Butter will present their unique blend of Latin, flamenco, jazz and gypsy music, followed by the striking electronic Palestinian street music offered up by headliners 47 Soul. To bring the two-day event to a close, Honeyfeet will bring their folk-hop and barrel-house pop tunes in their headline set on the Folk Ghetto stage.
