Women, Conflict-Related Sexual Violence and the Peace Process in Colombia (Talk)
This new report looks at sexual violence in the context of the armed conflict in Colombia, and the role that women
will play in a peace process. With peace talks underway between the guerrilla and the Colombian Government,
ABColombia is pleased to launch this joint report with Sisma Mujer, a Colombian women’s organisation that has been
working for 15 years to end violence and discrimination against women.
This event will look at the extensive but hidden practice of sexual violence by all actors in Colombia’s fifty year conflict.
As the UK increases its work in the area of preventing sexual violence, this event will discuss what the UK can do to
help Colombia address obstacles for women victims and survivors of this crime, including accessing justice and
ensuring the voice of women’s civil society is central to a peace process.
