WIN Canalón de Timbiqui London Tickets

By | 07 June, 2017

Canalón de Timbiqui – led by frequent Quantic collaborator Nidia Góngora – are one of the foremost practitioners of Colombia’s Pacific coast music. In many ways we can actually say that they are the most visible champions of that region’s folkloric music, with their rootsy take on Afro-Colombian styles like curralao, juga, bunde and rumba.

Featuring simply hand drums, marimba and a chorus of female voices, Canalón’s music is full of passion and energy, with Góngora’s compositions, and other select songs from the Pacific region, speaking of the unique geography on the coast, the traditions of the largely Afro-descendent population and the role of religion in their everyday lives.

To see Canalón live is a spiritual experience, and that is why we are so happy to be able to give away a pair of tickets – courtesy of The London Jukebox – to see the group when they play Nells Jazz and Blues Club on Saturday 15th July.
