Mahmundi redefines her sound with “Irreversível”: A Sounds and Colours premiere

By 03 April, 2025

In an era where Brazilian pop music constantly reinvents itself, the Rio-born singer, songwriter, and producer Mahmundi manages to remain a forward-thinking artist with her ability to fuse Brazilian pop with the pulse of contemporary electronic music. Sounds and Colours proudly presents the premiere of her new single Irreversível as she steps into yet another transformative phase of her career.

A Latin Grammy-nominated artist with a body of work that spans three albums, Mahmundi has built a reputation for independence, and so Irreversível marks a return to what she calls “a musical space I’ve always wanted to be in.”

This track is the result of a creative convergence between Mahmundi, the acclaimed composer Castello Branco, and Adieu, a rising force in the production scene whose credits include Pabllo Vittar and Urias. “I’m always looking for new adventures and new sounds. Releasing this song is a very special moment,” Mahmundi shares.

The origins of Irreversível trace back to a poem from Castello Branco’s book Simpatia. From those initial ideas, a collaborative process unfolded, where ideas were exchanged, reshaped, and refined. “We kept mixing ideas until I produced the track and put it away. When I started working with Adieu, who is an incredible producer in the new scene, I showed him what I had done, and a few days later he presented me with a different idea. We ended up with this result, which is very important to me,” Mahmundi explains.

The synergy between the three artists is palpable in the track’s sound—an effervescent blend of driving breakbeat, sleek electronic textures and warm acoustic elements. Adieu’s signature production style lends “Irreversível” a contemporary edge mixed with Castello Branco’s poetic sensibility.

Mahmundi’s journey has seen her collaborate with some of the most influential figures in Brazilian music—Liniker, Criolo, Sandra Sá, Ivete Sangalo, Linn da Quebrada, and Diogo Nogueira among others. “Irreversível” lands on digital platforms tomorrow, but you can hear it first right here.
