Meno Del Picchia’s new single “Sentir que vai voar,” a Sounds and Colours Première
12 November, 2025Meno Del Picchia’s new single is the result of the São Paulo-based artist’s encounter with two leading figures of the new generation of Brazilian music, João Menezes and Marina Nemésio. Another collaborator and key figure in new Brazilian music is the producer and multi-instrumentalist from Maceió, Batata Boy, who has worked on classic releases by Bruno Berle and Nyron Higor. The track is not easily definable, it’s not samba, bossa nova, rock, or baião, though it is a classic slice of melodic neo-MPB. It somehow reflects one of the main characteristics of Meno Del Picchia, an artist who is also an anthropologist and doesn’t necessarily limit himself to a single genre of music. In the past he’s explored a variety of traditional Brazilian sounds in his previous albums, adopting carimbó (from north Brazil) and reggae on one, and música caipira (country folk from the hinterlands) on another. His last album, Maré Cheia (high tide), looked to samba but with touches of electronic pop, again with the help of Batata Boy.
The title comes from the lyrics’ central lines (“The fear of falling/ is not feeling like you’re going to fly”). The electronic instrumentation and beats provided by Batata Boy are joined by the voice of Marina Nemésio. “Her singing style has personality and delicacy. What strikes me, when I hear her, is seeing that she expresses herself as the songwriter she also is, taking the music for herself and not just interpreting it,” says Meno.
The release comes out on the Pequeno Imprevisto label and you can listen for the first time here:
