“Sucuri” by BIKE: A Sounds and Colours song première

By 22 July, 2025

Sounds and Colours presents the new single from the exciting São Paulo psyche-rock band, BIKE, who are Júlio Cavalcante (vocals and guitar), Diego Xavier (vocals and guitar), Daniel Fumega (drums), and new member Gil Mosolino (bass).

This new release “Sucuri”, is the first single from their upcoming album, marking the group’s 10-year anniversary. The arrangement features a pounding tribal rhythm, reminiscent of Brazilian masters Dom Um Romão and Robertinho Silva, and high-pitched guitars sounding like chirping birds, along with undercurrents of constant drone that accompany the song from start to finish.

The lyrics of “Sucuri” (or what we would call an anaconda) are inspired by the Kaxinawá indigenous myth Yube and the Sucuri, in which a man falls in love with a woman-snake. “’Sucuri’ is a song that brings together the natural land and the occupied land,” explains guitarist and vocalist Júlio Cavalcante.

The track is taken from the forthcoming album Noise Meditations, the band’s sixth album, which will be available on vinyl and is out on 19th of September. I’ve been listening to the album and it’s a pretty exciting example of shimmering psychedelic textures, controlled guitar noise and driving rhythms.
