What’s happening (October/November)?
12 October, 2025After a thoroughly wonderful week’s holiday in the stunning island of Corsica, I’m back at S&C Central, plugged into the Infoscope (not yet powered by AI), and itching to let you know what to expect in the coming weeks vis à vis concerts in London and outlying districts.
Matorral and Naomi Blue
You may remember that Prezident Markon included a single by the London-based British-Chilean singer Naomi Blue in his last round-up. Ms. Blue will be embarking on a short tour of the UK with the acclaimed Chilean band, Matorral, who have been “redefining avant-garde pop since 2001.” Since that time, they have released six acclaimed albums and picked up a Pulsar Award for “Best Rock Artist”. They will be in London on October 23rd (at the Chilean Embassy no less) and on the 29th (at the Victoria, Dalston), with other dates in Hastings (at the Jenny Lind on the 26th), Bristol (at the Exchange Basement on the 28th), Brighton (at the Folklore Rooms on the 30th) and Oxford (at the Oxford Blue on the 1st November). If you get along to any of these concerts and fancy the chance of appearing as an extra on film, the tour will be filmed by Chilean filmmaker Omar Barril for a documentary about the shows. A new single featuring Naomi Blue is imminent. Meanwhile, here’s one of theirs from four years ago:
Ronnie Scott’s in November
The Brazilian heir apparents to Azymuth, Caixa Cubo, will be at Ronnie’s on the 1st November. Alas, it appears to be sold-out, However, there are still tickets available for the Chico Pinheiro Quartet on the 13th. A two-time GRAMMY nominee, the renowned Brazilian guitarist and composer will be accompanied by Holger Marjamaa (piano), Mathias Allamane (bass) and Rogério Pitomba (drums). Inspired by legends like Tom Jobim and Wayne Shorter, they blend Brazilian, jazz and classical influences. Here’s something to give you a taste of the tasteful music to expect:
On the same evening, the funk-infused jazz trio Collettivo Immaginario will be offering their blend of jazz-funk, Brazilian rhythms, disco and 70s electronica. Featuring Alberto Lincetto (keys), Nicolò Masetto (bass), and Tommaso Cappellato (drums), the Italian trio has released acclaimed albums including Trasforma (2022) and 2025’s Oltreoceano.
