The first in his Gaia Musica series sees DJ Tudo record with musicians from Brazil, North India, Indonesia and Mali for a truly cross-cultural collaboration.
Since 2001 DJ Tudo has been creating field recordings of Brazilian folk music and folk traditions. At the same time he was working as a producer and bass player for many bands and artists within São Paulo. He would soon unite these two threads in his project DJ Tudo e Sua Gente de Todo Lugar whereupon he became the bandleader for a worldwide collective who truly gave no care for the idea of borders. For DJ Tudo, we are all borne from the same root, and this applies to music where similarities can be found between rhythms and instruments as far afield as South America, Asia, Africa and Europe.
Gaia Musica Vol. 1 features fusions between rhythms from Brazil and India as well as instruments as varied as the tabla, khartaal, agogô, morchang and harmonium with DJ Tudo ever present on bass along with select musicians from Brazil providing percussion and brass flourishes.
