Basy Tropikalne’s Essential Latin Downtempo 2018 Mix

By 20 December, 2018

We’re very happy to bring you a brand new mix of Latin downtempo celebrating some of the finest cuts of the year from this seemingly perpetually-growing new movement of artists inspired and/or based in Latin America. Basy Tropikalne is a Polish radio show, DJ and record label who are at the forefront of this movement. Here’s their introduction, followed by the mix and tracklisting. Enjoy!

Electronic music augmented with elements of Latin American folklore at tempos barely exceeding 100bpm has become an extensive scene that year by year only seems to be growing further. The genre – which has no definitive name but is often referred to as Latin slowhouse or Andean downtempo – has proved to be extremely versatile, music to chill out to or reach a higher state of mind, or alternatively it’s the perfect music to get people moving in the club. Whatever this music does for you, here’s a mix containing some of the best tracks from the year that stick to this downtempo groove.
