Pandit Pam Pam Remixes Olodum

By 02 February, 2026

Carnival is just around the corner and what better way to spend it than dancing to this remix by friend of Sound & Colours Eduardo Ramos, aka Pandit Pam Pam, a constant name in the On the Margins column? “Faraó (Divindade Do Egito)” is a classic carnival staple from Salvador, in which the 1987 debut single from Olodum basically invented the samba-reggae genre. The song pays homage to ancient Egypt and proclaims that some of the pharaohs were actually black. In the “Pandit Pam Pam Deep Into The Bowel Of A Dub” remix, Ramos emphasises the samba-reggae drum beat and with it creates a profoundly deep bowel-quaking dub-techno party pounder. Ramos describes the remixes origins: “It started when my lovely wife, Bianca, began listening to this track a few weeks ago: every day, every hour. Our kids love it, and with Carnival incoming, inspiration suddenly struck. It felt bold for someone currently off the dancefloor, but I decided to translate this track into a language I understand: a dark, Balearic, dubby dream. This is the sort of thing you play at the very end of a party. It’s for that moment when dancers need to regain consciousness before the final hour—the ‘now or never’ moment. In 2026, we deserve this. We deserve some hope on the dancefloor, whether early or late in the night. We all want to feel younger, as a friend once said.”
