¡Adiós General!

By 16 October, 2023

It’s a little late in the day – and the culpa is purely mea – but there’s a most worthy event taking place at The Jago in Dalston on Wednesday evening: a night of live music to commemorate all those affected by the 17 dark and violent years of Pinochet’s dictatorship. London musicians from the Latin American diaspora, including British-Chilean journalist/musician Naomi in Blue, Malena Zavala, and Patiño, will pay tribute to Chile’s rich history of protest songs that helped to preserve memory and inspire hope during the dictatorship.

What’s more, profits from the event will go to Ecomemoria, a collective planting a forest in the south of Chile with each tree serving as a memorial for a victim of Pinochet’s bloody rule. So, if you’re scratching your head for some arresting mid-week entertainment, get yourself a ticket pronto from Eventbrite. You know it makes sense!
