New Sounds Of Chile #6

We are back at it again, with a fresh dose of music from the land of Chile, between the Andes and the Pacific Ocean. A place where guitar pop has always maintained its popular status, with Yorka and Marineros bands setting the mood of a melancholic autumn here, leaves falling and nostalgia flourishing to the sound of the beautiful simplicity of these fierce female power duos. This trip takes us down also to the southern cities of Concepción and Temuco, where Ninja Negro, Richy Poor and Sokofian make pop anchored by contemporary beats, from r&b to synthwave in just a few of minutes, and close to 300 kilometers.

As always, there is a mix of rap and electronic music, underground staples in Chile. New releases by Catana and Jonas Sanche keep the boombap and strong lyricism alive, while the new generations of club music producers explore the spaces between breaks, dub and techno. The list includes a couple of tracks from the Margen Relativo Vol. 1 compilation by breakthrough label Cluster B, and new releases by Buen Clima on British label Peach Discs and MAGA‘s new track on the French-based label Promesses.
