PREMIÈRE: Lukrø Releases New Salsa-Inspired Album on Matraca

By 05 June, 2020

One of the most active faces on the tropical underground scene is Peru’s now CDMX-based Lukrø. Always combining urban beats like juke, trap and jungle into our beloved Latin rhythms, dembow, cumbia et al, on his latest Descarga he goes deep into Afro-Cuban salsa and son.

The impact of son and salsa is nothing new to the history of South American tropical music, carrying a heavy impact in Venezuela, Colombia and of course down south in Peru. The album pays tribute to historic figures like Manny Oquendo, Papaito, Joe Bataan, Pedro Miguel & Sus Maracaibos, Orquesta La Conspiración and Fruko y Sus Tesos, taking their sound into the future.

This of course, couldn’t be done without a little help from friends, with collaborations from Mexico’s very own Yelram Selectah and El Pseudo, joining Lukrø on the new album.

Descarga is out now via Lukrø’s Peruvian home Matraca
