Quintessential tropical wanderings from Pedro Ojeda and his crew on this new 7” for the Okra label in Japan. “Uyuyuis” starts off with stuttering Latin jazz piano which makes you think it’s heading in one direction, but then suddenly the whole things just gallops off in another direction with barely-recognisable flute and high-pitched vocals, and one heck of a rhythm section throughout. “Sangre Negra” goes somewhere else entirely with a distinctly Afro-Caribbean Colombian vibe, though once more, any description really doesn’t do it justice. Give it a listen!
Amazing art by Yurika on this one!
