Chile’s Rubio Remixes Brooklyn-Based Duo Parrot Dream
19 April, 2022Taking the dream pop tune “Automatic System” to a more electronic territory, Rubio add dramatism and movement to the song, originally by Parrot Dream, moving from a two-minute downtempo introduction to an electropop build-up, creating a cinematic scene with signature synth work from Rubio’s Fran Straube.
The band behind the original, Parrot Dream, began life as a 4 piece in Santiago de Chile, then Christina Hansen Appel (vocals, keys) and Gonzalo Guerrero (guitar) relocated to Brooklyn, where they released their debut full length, Light Goes in 2018, on New York City label Good Eye Records. “Automatic System” is the first single from that album.
