EXIB Música On The Horizon

By 11 October, 2021

Not too surprisingly the organisation of music expos that would usually feature a programme of artists flying in from all over the world were hit hard by the pandemic, but they are now beginning to make their comeback. One such instance is EXIB Música, whose 2021 edition will be taking place for three days from October 21st in Setúbal, Portugal.

It’s a hugely important event for Ibero-American music, a meeting place for the industry, and a great place to catch a variety of acts from the region in picturesque locales. This year’s edition has strong line-ups of Spanish and Portuguese artists (celebrating the local is a hallmark of the post-lockdown season) as well as a strong quotient of acts from Latin America. It will also be making the most of a hybrid format with events available to stream online (for those who can’t be there).

Representing Cuba is Victor Zamora y Sexteto Cuba; there’s Brazilian singer and multi-instrumentalist Thais Morell; Argentina’s Sofia Rei, fresh from releasing her new album, El Umbral; Uruguayan tanguera Maia Castro; and Colombia’s Adriana Ospina, an up-and-coming singer/songwriter. There’s also a couple of interesting collaborations with Pedro Iaco (Brazil) joining forces with Manuel Linhares (Portugal) to perform original songs as well as covers by the likes of Baden Powell. Argentine bandoneon player Martín Sued will also be playing with Portuguese guitarist Bernardo Couto for another cross-Atlantic collaboration.

EXIB Música 2021 will be taking place October 21-23 in Setúbal, Portugal. You can find more information at exibproject.org/exibmusica2021
