de Lacey’s São Paulo Hip-Hop Mixtape
01 October, 2014For the latest in his mixtape instalment – following his recent excursion into digital cumbia – S&C’s de Lacey brings a fresh mix of hip-hop from São Paulo.
One of the most far-reaching disciplines in modern music is hip-hop and the incredibly effervescent hip-hop scene in São Paulo exhibits a unique take upon this music. This mix covers artists who were born and raised in the area – including superstars Criolo and Emicida – but also those who are very much part of the scene by virtue of their collaborations with local MCs and DJs, such as producer extraordinaire Coyote Beatz, originally from Belo Horizonte. Brazil’s largest city is also home to its strongest hip-hop following and after twenty years of gestation, artists such as Projota, Rashid and Don L are taking the movement forward in exciting new ways.
