Don Beto’s Tambor Santo Vol.2 Mixtape

By 18 May, 2013

Don Beto, one of the fine hombres behind Venezuelan group La Gallera Social Club, has put together a mixtape of African and Afro-Latin grooves for Konn Recordings. With Afro-Colombian styles such as bullerengue, expertly-selected choices from all over Africa and the full force of Venezuela’s African rhythms, this is a sterling trip into root and branch, the original African drums mutating into something new in Latin America, which continues to have a huge impact on the music being made.

La Gallera Social Club featured, with many other new Venezuelan groups, on our S&C Venezuela Podcast. Worth a listen if you want to find out what’s currently happening in Venezuela.
