Best Beach Destinations in Latin America to Travel To This Holiday Season

By 04 December, 2020

Not quite ready to put away your lawn furniture, grills, tank tops, summer dresses, and bathing suits? Well, you’re not alone. Most people tend to get a bit down as the colder seasons approach. Though it’s a time for thanksgiving, togetherness, and holiday cheer, it also means freezing temperatures, unpredictable storms, and spending more time indoors. When you factor in the pandemic, these negative feelings about the months ahead only get worse.

While there’s not much you can do to stop the seasons from changing; you can recapture a bit of the warm weather by planning a beach trip. Despite the ongoing pandemic, there are plenty of beautiful destinations in Latin America that are perfect this time of year. So, get ready to pack your favorite triangle bikini, sun hat, shades, and sandals and head to one of these destinations listed below.

Safety First

As excited as you are to be going on a beach getaway this fall, safety must remain a priority. With the coronavirus resurging in many regions worldwide, you must take precautions. Do some research to ensure that the destination you choose is safe for travel. Review all pandemic guidelines, including wearing PPE, traveling in public places, and quarantining before and after your vacation. As a general rule of thumb, if a destination is reported as high-risk, it’s best to look for another option than to put your health and wellness on the line.

Copacabana, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil

The carnival festivities aren’t the only reason to visit one of Latin America’s most popular tropical destinations. Rio de Janeiro has a ton of beaches to explore, but none more prolific than the famous Copacabana. Take in the picturesque sites of the lush green mountains, white sands, and clear blue water, and try out your new thong or two piece swimsuits. When you’re finished, head on over to the beach’s many food spots ranging from pizza and burgers to surf and turf. If it’s the nightlife you’re after, be prepared for the time of your life. Copacabana has a number of trendy clubs, strip joints, and bars ranging from neighborhood spots to upscale establishments to suit your interests.

Tela Bay Beaches, Honduras

When most people think of Honduras, they think of rainforests, Mayan ruins, and ancient civilization cultures. While that is part of what makes this Latin American destination unique, there’s a lot more than meets the eye. Book your trip to the beautiful town of Tela Bay and get ready to explore some of the world’s most amazing beaches. The bay has five beaches that are the perfect combination of nature and tropical oases. You can even book a tour to hike through the rainforest before soaking up some sun, participating in watersports, and mingling with the natives.

Baja California, México

You can’t create a list of top beach destinations without having a Latin American hotspot like Mexico on the list. Though a popular tourist attraction in the summer, Mexico is actually quite beautiful in the fall. Say good-bye to the high temperatures, humidity, and intense heat as you indulge in the many pleasures of a traditional “summer vacation.” Perfect for those who love adventure, you can have a blast windsurfing, hiking, swimming, kiteboarding, diving, and so much more.

Manuel Antonio Beach, Costa Rica

Last, but not least on the list of must-see Latin American beaches this fall is Manuel Antonio beach in Costa Rica. The national park has four beaches to explore. As you walk along the warm white sand and gaze in awe at the turquoise blue waters, you may come across a white face monkey. You can hike the many trails, indulge in water sports like surfing, swimming, or snorkeling.

If you’re looking for a change of pace amid the chaos known as the global pandemic, a beach getaway may be just what you need. While it’s essential to prioritize your health and safety, the Latin American destinations listed above are absolutely gorgeous during the fall. From lounging and tanning to watersports and exploration, there’s no shortage of activities to extend your fun in the sun.
