Pereira’s Esparrela – Chama Mix

Ricardo Pereira is a musician and DJ from São Paulo. He plays in a couple of bands affiliated with the group Hurtmold, Guilherme Granado’s Bodes & Elefantes project and Mauricio Takara’s Assembléia Ritmica de Pinheiros, both incredible live bands if you ever get the chance to see them. He also creates his own music (which makes a slight appearance in the mix below) and DJ’s at Festa Esparrela and other nights. The mix below was made especially for the 1st edition of Festa Esparrela, a party where the emphasis is on rhythm. Here’s Ricardo to explain exactly what this mix is all about:

Na verdade essa mix foi algo espontâneo com alguns discos que tenho e aprecio bastante. E, como era o inicio de nossa festa Esparrela, achei que a ocasião merecia uma seleção de estreia com algumas músicas que discotecamos. Procurei fazer uma mixcd sem compromisso e compartilhar boa música. Independente de sua época, mix com jazz , música Brasileira, reggae e rock são músicas boas e agradáveis ao ambiente a ser ouvido. A intenção era simplicidade e a perspectiva de diálogo entre diferentes estilos musicais.

In truth this was a spontaneous mix using records that I owned and appreciated a lot. As it was the start of our party Esparrela I thought that the occasion deserved for it’s debut a selection of songs that we DJ. I tried to make a mix without compromise and to share good music. Independent of era, it’s a mix with jazz, Brazilian music, reggae and rock, good songs and perfect for the environment where they’ll be heard. The idea was simplicity and to allow different styles of music to interact with each other.
