New music from NYC/Brazil’s Zuzuka Poderosa
17 December, 2012New York City’s ‘carioca bass’ queen Zuzuka Poderosa has released a new single along with San Francisco, Calif.,-based producer, Kush Arora.
Psicodelia is remixed by Nego Moçambique, also known as Marcelo Martins. The upbeat track features Zuzuka rapping about fireworks at a party that are, in fact, gunfire and bombs in one of Brazil’s favelas.
Zuzuka Poderosa has been bringing her own post-modern brand of baile funk – which she calls ‘Carioca Bass’ – to the world’s stages for a number of years now. Born and raised in Brazil, the half-Indonesian human baile funk boombox scorches ears from a home base in Brooklyn.
The year 2011 was a breakout year for Zuzuka’s style of powerful and colorful electronic dance music. Now she’s back and collaborating with this Bay Area producer, trying to add some global/international flavour to the EDM world. The pair have worked together before. Check out their Carioca Bass mixtape here.
Zuzuka Poderosa and Kush Arora are set to release an EP in late January.
