Plaza Francia’s Chamán Mixtape

By 12 June, 2015

So many of our favourite artists from the emerging Andean Beat scene are present on this glorious mixtape by Plaza Francia. A new name on the block, though one helmed by some seriously-honed musicians, Plaza Francia is a collaboration between Eduardo Makaroff and Christoph H. Müller (best known for their work in Gotan Project) and the French singer Catherine Ringer. You can find out more about that project in our recent interview with Eduardo and Catherine.

On this quite appropriately-titled Chamán mixtape, Plaza Francia pick out some of the finest names from the electronic music scene, and more specifically the downtempo artists inspired by Andean and Amazon traditions that we like to refer to as Andean Beat. Included are incredible artists like Tremor, Frikstailers and Lagertijeando (who all hail originally from Argentina’s ZZK Records stable) as well as Chile’s Matanza, Bleepolar from Colombia and Canada’s Poirier, as well as artists like Gustavo Santaolalla and Melingo, who are harder to pin down. There are even a few international names – Flying Lotus! – to give the mixtape a real inclusive feel.

Check out the Chamán mixtape below – you won’t be disappointed!
