Bixiga 70 Announce New Album ‘Quebra-Cabeça’ With Release of Title Track; European Shows Announced

By 25 July, 2018

Bixiga 70 have returned with a rocket of a new track that sizzles in all the right ways: funky guitars, groovy drumming patterns, bombastic horns, it’s everything you want from the band and more, a powerful evocation of their ‘Afro-Brazilian disco beat’ sound.

Titled “Quebra-Cabeça” (the Brazilian expression for a jigsaw puzzle), it’s the title track from their upcoming new album – due for release on 12th October 2018 via Glitterbeat Records.

The video, which is directed by Chico Porto, shows the group’s love for Jimmy the Dancer, a local São Paulo character who you can find at any decent dub or reggae night in the city. He’s especially often found dancing on stage with Bixiga 70, and here in the video he finds another way of accompanying the group as an unlikely protagonist of this glimpse into the São Paulo nightlife.

The group have already announced select European tour dates to accompany the release of the new album. Expect more to come.

European Tour Dates

Wed 17 Oct – New Morning, Paris
Sun 21 Oct – TivoliVredenburg, Utrecht
Tue 23 Oct – The Jazz Cafe, London
