By 11 August, 2015

Futuro Beach (Praia do Futuro) The latest film from Brazilian auteur Karim Aïnouz will be released on DVD and On Demand by Peccadillo Pictures on August 24th, and will also be screened at the Brazilian embassy on August 19th as part of their Cineclub Brazil series.

The first ever co-production between Brazil and Germany, Futuro Beach is part gay romance, part inquisitive self-journey starring two of Brazil and Germany’s biggest acting talents: Wagna Moura and Clemens Schick. Directed by Karim Aïnouz, whose previous successes include The Silver Cliff, I Travel Because I Have To and I Come Back Because I Love You, the film takes place on the treacherous Futuro Beach. It’s here where Brazilian lifeguard Donato saves German biker Konrad from drowning, with the pair immediately forming a strong sexual bond. As their passionate affair intensifies, Donato decides to leave his mother and younger brother Ayrton behind, to start a new life with Konrad in Berlin. Years later Ayrton arrives in Berlin to demand answers.

With a vibrant soundtrack featuring David Bowie and Suicide, and acting from some of Brazil and Germany’s finest actors, the film received much critical adulation on release.

Futuro Beach will be shown at the Embassy of Brazil in London on August 19th.
