Mental Abstrato Release Brazilian Jazz Tour De Force ‘UZOMA’ on Vinyl

By 16 September, 2019

Brazilian trio Mental Abstrato didn’t hold back on their latest album, UZOMA, released on digital/CD in Brazil in late 2018. Following on from their 2010 debut Pure Essence it showed a maturing of the band’s sound, with solid collaborations and a wider palette of sound taking in samba-jazz, hip-hop and Afro spiritualism along with their solid West Coast-style jazz vibes.

If you like your jazz deep, groovy, calmly probing away at the bigger questions, then this is your thing. Mental Abstrato, based in São Paulo, are the trio of Omig-One (programming/percussion), Calmão (beats/programming) and Guimas (bass/drums). On UZOMA they are joined by a quality cast with vocals from Gil Duarte, Rodrigo Brandão, Erica Dee (Canada) and Ozay Moore (USA), and some of São Paulo’s finest musicians along for the ride too: Marcelo Monteiro, Guizado, Mauricio Theury, Fernando TRZ and Kike de Souza, to name a few.

The result is one of the best Brazilian jazz albums from the last few years, and best of all, it is now available to buy on vinyl too. Check out the links below to get your copy.
