D.C.’s Empresarios release new album
13 November, 2012There is a new sound coming out of Washington, D.C., and it’s “tropicaliente.”
The Empresarios, a band that coined the word to describe their blend of salsa, dub, cumbia, house and reggae, have released their much anticipated second album, “El Sonido Mágico” on Fort Knox Recordings.
The 13-track album is the follow up to the eight piece band’s freshman effort, “Sabor Tropical,” in 2011.
Bandleader Javier Miranda, and lead singers Frankie Rosado and Felix Perez, hail from Puerto Rico, and yet the diversity shows as “El Sonido Mágico” is peppered with hints of San Juan, Kingston, and New York.
The band has been busy churning out remixes and touring much of the Northeast.
