WIN XIXA’s ‘The Code’ EP on 10″ Vinyl

XIXA, the band formerly known as Chicha Dust, recently released a new EP titled The Code and we have a copy to give away on 10″ vinyl. Formed by Tucson-based duo Gabriel Sullivan and Brian Lopez as essentially a chicha tribute band, playing steamy, breakneck Peruvian cumbias in local events for friends and family, has now developed into so much more.

The Code sees the band, now a six-piece, develop their musical language even further. Cumbia remains at the root, the rhythmic backbone, but there is a stronger, bolder Americana presence, combining the beauty of gothic narratives with South American grooves for a dusty, danceable end result. Lopez defines their new musical output as being a “sonic thread woven through our mutual admiration for Peruvian chicha and our roots as songwriters and storytellers”
