WATCH: S&C Speak to the Latin American Directors at Sheffield Doc/Fest 2017

By 19 September, 2017

Sounds and Colours’ Susy Peña caught up with the Latin American directors at this year’s Sheffield Doc/Fest to discuss their films (and their video game, in the shape of “Borders”).

Over the course of the festival (‎9th June to 14th June 2017) she spoke to the Mexican directors Eduardo Esquivel and Sandra Luz Lopez Barroso about their short films, Uriel y Jade and Artemio respectively, as well as the Mexican video game designer Genaro Vallejo Reyes about his new politically-minded game Borders. She also spoke to Giselle Cruz, the producer of the Cuban short film segment Made In Cuba, and to Sheyla Pool Pástor, whose film Great Muy Bien was part of that showcase.

The film offers a fine introduction to the works of these emerging directors and the links that are being forged between Latin American cinema and projects such as Sheffield’s hugely important documentary festival.
