Listen to new Caçapa album Elefantes Na Rua Nova
11 June, 2011Caçapa‘s debut album Elefantes Na Rua Nova will be released on June 12th. It’s a real taste of northeastern Brazil with Alessandra Leão appearing on a number of tracks. You can currently listen to the album in full via Soundcloud.
The term “manguefolk” has recently been give to this style of music by Mais Um Gringo and this is something we will continue here. Elefantes Na Rua Nova is an album of folk music from the north-east of Brazil (i.e. forró, maracatu, coco, baião) given a fresh update by Caçapa and the musicians on this album.

Other “manguefolk” artists worth checking out are the solo work of Alessandra Leão, Maciel Salú and Eddie (who alternate between rock, mangue-beat and manguefolk).
