Dirty Old Bossa Nova Mixtape

By 20 August, 2010

Our very good friend Tom Crookston (aka Tommy Digital), over at the Nossa! Brazil blog, has very kindly submitted this mixtape for us to post. Tom describes it as:

A 56 minute journey through bossa nova, Brazilian funk, jazz, samba and psychedelia. There’s some new music on there, some old, some rare stuff and some that’s common as muck. The only common thread is that all the tracks are great.

And we certainly can’t deny their greatness. There is a wealth of talent and beautiful songs on the mix from the familiar Os Novos Baianos, Vinicius de Moraes and Jorge Ben to the lesser known Fabio and Renata Lu to the non-Brazilian styles of Howard Roberts and Kool and the Gang!

Tom Crookston is a journalist and DJ from London. His blog, Nossa! Brazilian Music and Culture, is one of the best sources for the latest on Brazilian culture with a personal twist.
