São Paulo High Society: Disco & Boogie from Brazil

By 11 May, 2013

The new mixtape from Cazenove Club cooks up a soaring collection of old-skool Brazilian funk and soul, with original tunes from the masters of the seventies and eighties São Paulo disco scene like Marcos Valle, Fernanda Abreu, Deodato and Gilberto Gil. Taking inspiration from the wildfire US disco scene of the time, this packs unmistakably Brazilian elements in the afro-rhythms, funk-melodies and of course the crispy Portuguese vocals. While it’s an aspect of the Brazil sound that’s not been as widely exported as other kinds of music, this is one to put ants in the pants of even the most resolutely statuesque nightclub attendee. Sixteen tunes here for your audio pleasure and a big hand for the Cazenove crew for putting this beauty together.
