Venus X and Asmara’s Putaria Maxima Mix Vol. 2 Mixtape

Following on from their much-acclaimed Putaria Maxima mixtape last year, Venus X and Asmara are back with a second volume. Subtitled Trouble In Paradise, Putaria Maxima Vol 2 once again features baile funk beats mixed with rap, trap and dembow, all inspired by the duo’s time spent in Brazil.

“Here is part two, a political statement, full of the sinister and sexual energy that rules the world. We aim to offend everyone”, says Venus X and Asmara “Our goal was to create a classic mix that seamlessly mixes rap, dance, dembow and r&b among other genres from all the ghettos of the world… Brazil to Atlanta to Dominican Republic to Memphis to Mexico to Nigeria.” That is most certainly what they achieved, with Brazil’s Bonde 3000, MC Kitinho and MC WM sitting alongside trap and rap heads from Atlanta, Georgia like Playboi Carti, Lil Baby and Peewee Longway, as well as a strong contingent from New York and others from across the Americas.

A line has been drawn from baile funk to trap with dembow and rap creeping in seamlessly. It’s a joyous thing.
